Chris Broussard: “I really like Darvin a lot.  He has a very strong presence and is well respected by players he’s coached. He’s not a pushover, and yet he’s very likeable. He’s got the resume, being on a championship coaching staff and he has experience coaching a superstar, in Giannis. I’m sure LeBron’s on board with it, but to me this is clearly not a hire he dictated. Not saying he didn’t want Darvin, but I feel like LeBron preferred the veteran route like Doc Rivers. But I wasn’t a fan of the Doc chatter, because he just isn’t the right coach for the Lakers. I like the move for Darvin Ham, it’s going to benefit the team.”
Rob Parker: “With nobody else out there except for retreads like Terry Stotts and Kenny Atkinson, I think it’s great that they’re giving Darvin Ham a chance. He’s paid his dues, I know him a little from Detroit and he’s a great guy and he’s put in his time looking for an opportunity. I’m happy for the Lakers, they did the right thing by hiring someone they can try to develop a potential young star head coach.”
