Is Trey Lance Starting at Quarterback for the 49ers the Right Move?

Today on The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker, the guys go back and forth debating if the 49ers are making the right move to start Trey Lance week one. While Rob thinks the 49ers should sit Trey for another season, Chris believes the 49ers should start Trey and if he doesn’t perform to the standard, they should bring in Jimmy Garoppolo.

Chris Broussard: "I’m sorry this is how it is now. You have to beat someone out, everyone is coming for your job at quarterback until you prove that you’re that guy. I’m fine with Trey being the starter but why not keep Jimmy G as insurance? Why not have him there incase Trey gets hurt or Trey doesn’t play well? They’re built to win now! The NFL is no longer about five year plans, if you have a chance to win it now go win it now! Start with Trey but if he doesn’t do well go back to Jimmy G, don’t get rid of him.”
Rob Parker: "It’s a mistake, the San Francisco 49ers have no clue what they’re doing! I get it, you traded up, you drafted Trey Lance, and you have high hopes for him. You were almost in the Super Bowl for the second time with Jimmy G at quarterback, those are facts not feelings. Yes, there is nothing wrong with Trey Lance sitting down for one more year. Aaron Rodgers sat behind Brett Favre for 3 years, look how he ended up... I don’t believe Trey is ready right now."
