The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to run out the clock in their 21-15 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday thanks to a questionable roughing the passer penalty committed against Bucs QB Tom Brady. Some NFL fans (mostly in Atlanta) are crying foul and claiming the referees are following some sort of league mandate to protect Tom Brady, which Doug thinks is bordering on a conspiracy theory. While the NFL is trying to protect the quarterbacks, nobody is directing officials to manufacture calls for Brady. It was just a bad call, pure and simple.

Doug Gottlieb: “There have been other bad calls, plenty of them...I don’t think this is some league mandate to keep Tom Brady healthy. I think anyone would realize that quarterbacks get the benefit of the doubt, and Tom Brady especially...”
