Raiders Are Still the Same Mess They’ve Been for 20 Years

The Raiders have thrown in the towel and decided to bench QB Derek Carr for the remainder of the season and Jonas Knox, Brady Quinn and LaVar Arrington are all critical of the franchise for how they are operating. After all, Carr reset the franchise record books in his time there and deserves better treatment. It’s not a good look when you’re benching a guy you just signed to a 3-year extension in the offseason.

Brady Quinn: “This is not the way you treat a guy who literally reset the record books and helped you maintain any sort of competitiveness whatsoever given all the lack of help, talent, whatever you want to call it, around him throughout his career there. So, it’s an ugly move...You can see from the business standpoint why they did it, but it’s so disrespectful to me, to Derek Carr and everything he’s given them.”

LaVar Arrington: “This is a focal point of placing the blame solely at Derek Carr’s feet and saying; this season didn’t go the way that it (should have gone) because of poor play by our quarterback.”

Jonas Knox: “I’m curious to see what their move is next at quarterback because, if Carr’s not it after you gave him a contract extension this offseason, what’s the plan? [LAUGHTER] It just feels like we’re back to the same old mess that they’ve been for the last 20 years.”
