The latest rumors out of Seattle claim that Russell Wilson wanted HC Pete Carroll fired before he would agree to stay with the Seahawks, a rumor which Wilson has vehemently denied. Covino & Rich are sitting in for Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show this morning and they wonder how it all turned ugly for Russell Wilson. He was a beloved, mildly corny yet charismatic Super Bowl winning quarterback and now he is the target of ridicule and rumors from fans and players. Did his celebrity change him, or has he always been this cringey?
Steve Covino: “Russell Wilson’s growing his hair out, he’s acting all Hollywood. He’s getting a little arrogant because he’s trying to prove something because he’s trying to shed that image, but the truth is, hey man, we loved you as that!”
Rich Davis: “Russell Wilson doesn’t want to be the ‘Aw shucks, I’m the greatest All-American’ guy.”
