Anthony Davis Finally Played to His Potential

The Los Angeles Lakers took game 1 of their 2nd round NBA Playoff series vs. the Golden State Warriors on the back of Anthony Davis’ historic performance. With 30 points, 23 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks, he is the only player besides Tim Duncan to post those numbers in a single playoff game in the last 40 years. He’s one of only 5 Lakers to have a 30/20 playoff game, joining the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor. Dan thinks it’s about time we saw AD show the dominance he is truly capable of, and the Lakers are going to need him at his best if they’re going to have a shot at the title.

Dan Patrick: “It’s not like you go, ‘Hey, wow, what a rare performance by AD!’ It’s, ‘Yes, he should be doing this!’ 30 and 23? You know when your name gets mentioned with Shaq (O’Neal) and Kareem (Abdul-Jabbar) as far as a playoff performance, that’s pretty good...The 5th player in Lakers history to post a 30/20 playoff game. Shaq did it 9 times, Kareem twice, Wilt (Chamberlain) did it twice, Elgin Baylor did it 11 times. Also throw in 5 assists and 4 blocks, I mean, that’s as impressive as we’ve had in the last 40 years!”
