San Antonio Spurs #1 draft pick Victor Wembanyama, asked about the differences between the NBA and European basketball, claims that hoops overseas is more physical than here in the States. His comments have triggered a lot of players and fans but only because they don’t understand the context. But Gottlieb gets it: he’s not saying the players are more physical, he’s just talking about the style of play.
Doug Gottlieb: “We just read the quote and don’t listen to the context...Wemby’s right, it’s just a hard message to receive because of the way he looks, rail-thin, and frankly because he hasn’t played a game in the NBA yet.”
