Rob Parker: Saquon Barkley Should Sit Out Until He's Paid What He Deserves

Rob Parker: “I applaud Saquon Barkley for standing up, and wanting to be paid what he’s worth. In an NFL where you need to run the football to win games, for them to try to devalue the running back position is just ridiculous. The only way for Saquon to show the Giants he means business is by sitting out the season.... In understand sitting out is a major risk, but in life, in order to get what you want you have to stand up for what you believe in. The reason that the NFL owners keep doing this to running backs and screwing them over is because nobody is willing to stop the game.”
Andy Furman: “I’m not so certain Saquon has leverage, but if I was his agent, I would point out the Giants were 8-2 when Barkley rushed for 70 yards or more last season, and 7-2 when he had a 100+ scrimmage yards. That’s pretty great. He was 4th in the league in rushing last season, and making him the highest paid running back in the league wouldn’t break the bank. I get what he’s trying to do, but he’d be crazy to sit out the season.”

The Odd Couple’s Rob Parker and guest host Andy Furman breakdown Saquon Barkley teasing the idea of sitting out the 2023-24 season. Rob believes Saquon should stand up for what he believes in, because that’s the only way change will happen across the league. Listen to the full segment above!
