The Mets Actually Won the Trade Deadline

The New York Mets traded away future Hall of Fame pitchers Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander before the trade deadline and look to be dismantling their squad. While Mets fans are thoroughly disappointed, Doug argues that the Mets are actually improving their team by evolving away from signing overpriced, aging starting pitchers and looking to rebuild with youth. They’ve positioned themselves for long-term success instead of season-by-season instability.

Doug Gottlieb: “I look at the New York Mets not as just the abject disaster that so many Mets fans (do), I look at them as a great case study...It does feel like the Mets are the first team to go, ‘Hey, this is not the way, let’s try a different way.’”
