Jason Smith: “The Days of Ohtani Being Baseballs Unicorn is Over!”

The Los Angeles Angels two-way ace Shohei Ohtani left during game 1 of a double header against the Cincinnati Reds this last Wednesday. A MRI revealed a tear in his UCL and will not be able to pitch the remainder of the season. The guys react to the news and tell us what can be next for the Angels star player. Listen to the dull segment here!

Jason Smith: “The days of him being this unicorn and doing something in baseball we never seen, those days are likely over! We are going to talk about him being a star, but we are going to look back at this three year run and go, can you remember when Ohtani did that and his body just couldn’t hold up. It’s a lot to go through the rigors of playing every day as a DH and every fifth day pitching!”
Mike Harmon: “The training and the process at every level we have seen players that had to make the choice and in a couple cases we have players that cant achieve not just due to injury, but we see pitchers get injured and reinvent themselves as hitters. We certainly saw those types of situations! I think we celebrate and commemorated it properly knowing that you only have a so many games and it’s the only time we have ever seen it.”
