Trey Lance’s Resume Says He Should Not Be in the NFL

Chris Broussard: “I don’t think the 49ers were in love with Trey Lance. The 49ers didn’t trust Jimmy G (Garoppolo) to stay healthy and they wanted to get off of the Jimmy G contract by starting a quarterback on a rookie deal so they could strengthen other positions. Plus they felt like their offense is quarterback friendly. Obviously Trey got hurt and then Brock Purdy played better than they’ve ever seen Trey Lance play... and then they brought in Sam Darnold and he played better at least in practice than Trey Lance.”
Chris Broussard: “At the end of the day, the 49ers don’t think Trey Lance is very good and don’t think he’s a starting quarterback in the NFL. His resume says he shouldn’t be in the NFL. He was a 2-star recruit coming out of high school and he played at the FCS level.”

On the latest episode of The Odd Couple, Chris Broussard and Martin Weiss discuss the 49ers trading the former No.3 overall pick to the Cowboys for a 2024 fourth round pick. Listen to the full segment above!
