Rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama made his debut for the San Antonio Spurs last night, and while he failed to dominate in his first official NBA action, he didn’t look half bad even if he did make a few mistakes. Dan Patrick reminds us that he is only 19-years-old and some mistakes are to be expected, but he thinks there is no one better to develop this young man’s talent than Gregg Popovich who molded two of the all-time great big men in David Robinson and Tim Duncan.
Dan Patrick: “He’s 19 and he made some mistakes that 19, 20, 21, 22-year-olds make. And you’re going to make hustle mistakes. I’m OK with that...He’s going to make these mistakes and with Pop (Gregg Popovich), he’ll help him. He’ll help him as well as any head coach, if not more so, because he’s had David Robinson and Tim Duncan, but he had them when they were 23, 24-years-of-age.”
