In less than a year, Deion Sanders has turned the University of Colorado football program from a hopeless laughing stock into the hottest brand in the sport. Today, Coach Prime joined Dan to reflect on what he's accomplished so far, and the unfinished business that remains on the horizon.
After turning the college football world on its ear to start the season with a statement win over 2022 CFP runner-up TCU and rival Colorado State, Colorado has faced its share of adversity during a rough October. When asked about the regression, Sanders was bluntly honest in his assessment that his program lacks the full compliment of top level players needed to seriously contend for a national title with perennial Power 5 powerhouses, but he fully expects to fill those holes in year 2, "You better get me now, because we're about 8 to 10 players away."
Sanders also opened up to Dan about the incredible experience of coaching his sons, star QB Shadeur, and DB Shilo, and how he would have cashed in at Florida State if NIL cash were flowing like it is today, "I would have had a driver."
Thanks to Deion's overnight turnaround of Colorado, many believe it's only a matter of time before he moves on to either a higher profile program and eventually an NFL job. Contrary to the media speculation about his NFL future, he doesn't see himself coaching on Sundays anytime soon:
“No, no, not whatsoever. I don’t think I’m built for the NFL...”
