Jimbo Fisher Got a Sweetheart Buyout From Texas A&M

Texas A&M fired their head football coach, Jimbo Fisher, on Friday despite a massive buyout in his contract estimated at around $77M. It’s an unprecedented amount for a college coach and unlike most buyout clauses; he will continue to get paid even if he takes another job. And all of this happened after his Aggies dropped 51 points on Mississippi State this weekend which seems to indicate that his ouster had already been decided before the game was played.

Dan Patrick: “If he takes another job, he still gets paid by Texas A&M. That doesn’t happen! Usually it’s offset. If you’re due money and then you get another job, then all of a sudden, you don’t get that same amount.”
