Brandon Aubrey: Perfection Is Not As Easy As It Looks

NFL record setting Dallas Cowboys rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey joins Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show. He talks a little about making the transition from being a professional soccer player to kicking in the NFL and thinks guys like Ronaldo and Messi would have no problem doing his job. And he says it’s the coaching staff that has given him the confidence to make every kick and stay perfect in his career so far, including two field goals from 59+ yards in a single game.

Dan Patrick: “Most consecutive field goals to start a career, 30, and the first kicker with multiple 59 (yards) or longer field goals in a game. Seems to be, you know, this is pretty easy for you...”

Brandon Aubrey: “No, I wouldn’t say that. I’ve just been given (an) opportunity with a coaching staff that believes in me. Obviously, to kick a 60-yard field goal in the first quarter isn’t something that happens often and just to be given the opportunity to do that speaks volumes of the coaching staff’s trust in me, and that inspires confidence. So, just going out there and being free, knowing that the coaching staff believes in me and has my back, allows me to perform free and not worry about the consequences of making a mistake.”
