Chris and Rob react to coveted free agent pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto's decision to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rob thinks Yamamoto cheated himself by signing up to sit in the shadow of Shohei Ohtani, but Chris disagrees, saying the decision gives him the best chance to win titles.
Rob Parker: "I think [Yamamoto] cheated himself by signing with Ohtani. He was a star in his own right in Japan and by all scouting accounts, he's the real deal -- he's unbelievable. And by teaming up with Ohtani, to me, he's knocked his own legendary status down, because he's joining the ultimate guy... If the Dodgers win a couple World Series, it's gonna be about Ohtani. Yamamoto had a chance to set up his own legacy... a chance to be the guy who beats Ohtani. It's like Kevin Durant when he went to the Warriors... I feel like Yamamoto has signed up to be in the shadow of Ohtani."
