Mahomes Might Just Be The GOAT Over Brady if He Three-peats

Steve Covino: "If he gets the three-peat -- and that's never been done before -- does that rival the seven rings [of Tom Brady]?... I think if Mahomes does this and wins like one more, which is completely possible, I think it's safe to say that he's easily in that conversation... Even though Patrick Mahomes says the goal is always seven rings... the rings don't necessarily make you the greatest. Like is Yogi Berra the greatest baseball player of all time? Is Bill Russell the greatest NBA player of all time? They've got the most rings! So why are we saying that in regards to Tom Brady? If Patrick Mahomes wins three [straight] -- no one's ever done it -- I think it's safe to say he could be the GOAT moving forward."
Rich Davis: "I think until Tom Brady won in Tampa, I'd agree with the argument that maybe four with a three-peat from Mahomes equals the Tom Brady six in New England. But the minute Tom Brady went to the Buccaneers, and his leadership took him past [Drew] Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Mahomes... When he did that, he sealed the GOAT legacy."

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will have the opportunity to pull off the NFL's first ever Super Bowl three-peat next season. Obviously a lot has to happen between now and then, but Covino and Rich ponder whether breaking that ground would ultimately vault Mahomes to the top of the all-time NFL quarterbacks mountain. Covino thinks it probably would, but Rich is a bit more hesitant.
