Bernie Fratto joined FOX Sports Radio in September 2018 to host the weekend edition of “Straight Outta Vegas” on Saturday nights, which was expanded to a four-hour program in 2021. In September 2022, “The Bernie Fratto Show” debuted, airing Fridays from 11 p.m. – 2 a.m. and Saturdays from 11 p.m. - 3 a.m. In the last five years, Fratto has also co-hosted and filled in for several FOX Sports Radio programs, including “The Ben Maller Show,” “Fox Sports Football Sunday” with Dan Beyer, “Fox Sports Saturday” with Steve Hartman, “The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker,” “The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon” and other programs. He also appears on the network every Saturday night at 10:20 p.m. PT with hosts Aaron Torres and Jason Martin.
Fratto got his start in radio at WTKA 1050 AM in Ann Arbor, Mich., the flagship of University of Michigan football, where he hosted his own shows: “The View from the Cheap Seats” and “The Sports Angle.” After joining WKRK 97.1 FM (CBS) in Detroit, his duties included co-hosting “Sports Night with Parker and the Man,” as well as pre- and post-game coverage of Detroit Lions until 2008. He also covered Super Bowl XL, the 2006 World Series, the 2005 MLB All-Star game, the NBA Finals, and was fully credentialed for the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings and Pistons.
After relocating to Las Vegas in 2010, Fratto became a fixture at ESPN Las Vegas 1100 AM, co-hosting shows, as well as hosting and producing “Rebel Extra,” an immensely popular pre- and post-game show devoted to UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball from 2011-2018.
Prior to his career in broadcasting, Fratto played baseball at Chapman University, along with future Major Leaguers Tim Flannery and Marty Castillo. He was signed with the Cincinnati Reds by famed scout Larry Barton, Jr., and was assigned to the California Winter Rookie League before a serious arm injury ended his career after only 27 games.
Fratto’s book, “The View From the Cheap Seats” (available on Amazon) was released in 2021 and features a collection of unique stories, drawing many from his experiences during time spent with his mentor, the great Dick Schaap. His story was chronicled in the Chicago Sun-Times in December 2022
Fratto is also an accomplished public speaker. His Ted Talk, "Everything I Needed to Know, I Learned in Little League," has been presented at the University of Michigan Ross Business School, Ford Motor Co., Motorola, Chambers of Commerce, Super Bowl events, The X's and O's of Success Lon Kruger Symposium and more, while receiving critical acclaim for his entertaining and informative messages: "Whatever success we aspire to have in this life, will be done within the framework of a team!" and "No one does it by themselves, even the Lone Ranger had Tonto!"
A husband and father of two children, Fratto finds time to support Coaches vs. Cancer, and is an active advocate for Muscular Dystrophy Association in Michigan.
