Jared Smith joined FOX Sports Radio in August 2022 as a Betting Analyst, and can be heard on the weekend football program, “Countdown to Kickoff” presented by BetMGM. Airing Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET, the program serves as a lead-in to the weekend in college football and also features FSR weekend personality Brian Noe and former All-American Penn State Left Guard Rich Ohrnberger.
In addition to his work with FOX Sports Radio, Smith makes regular TV appearances on the betting show “Live on the Line,” which airs weekdays at 12 p.m. ET on Bally Sports, YES, Marquee and Stadium. He can also be seen on VSIN (Vegas Stats & Information Network), hosting live shows at the South Point and Circa Sportsbooks in Las Vegas.
Smith has more than a decade of broadcasting experience including minor league baseball play-by-play (Trenton Thunder) and Division I athletics (La Salle, FAU). He began his TV career in 2012 as a news reporter for the NBC affiliate in Flint, MI, before moving on to become the Sports Director at 9 &10 News in Northern Michigan. In 2014, Smith moved back to his native New York City and continued his career in local news, working for various networks such as Fios1, News 12 Long Island, and NY1.
After a brief hiatus into finance as an advisor at Merrill Lynch, he rejoined the broadcasting world in 2019 after PASPA was repealed and New Jersey approved sports betting. Smith hosted and produced betting shows for SportsGrid, a 24-hour digital sports betting network, and later was the Lead Betting Analyst at Pickswise.
Smith’s love for gambling began in high school when he hosted poker games in his basement after hours. He has been betting on sports every year since he turned 18. He’s also an avid craps player, which is the only table game he frequents at the casinos in Las Vegas.
Smith graduated from Penn State University in 2008 with a degree in broadcasting. He currently resides in Las Vegas, NV with his rescue pitbull "Jackpot." In his spare time away from sports, he likes to go hiking, play the piano, and support local animal shelters.
