Jason Smith: "I can almost guarantee you we are going to have a 72-team tournament in the next couple of years. One, you allow other bubble teams in. But the other part of it is that the NCAA can have two more games on each of the first two nights, and then primetime on Tuesday and Wednesday becomes a mini first 2 days of the tournament. Why are we sticking with 2 days of madness when we can have 4 days of madness? Within 2 years, a 72-team tournament, because it will allow a few more teams in because you're snubbing a few more than you have in recent years, as there's a bigger push for the mid-majors. But also, you can have big time nights on Tuesday and Wednesday, and that's a big TV win."
Jason Smith and Mike Harmon explain why they believe the NCAA Tournament is headed for an expansion soon. Jason breaks down why he views a 72-team tournament is a perfect next step for the NCAA, given the greater amount of bubble teams and the opportunity to maximize television broadcast space.
