A Kansas City Chiefs player suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest at the team's facility Thursday (June 6), sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The player wasn't named, but identified as "a backup defensive lineman," following the medical incident, which resulted in practice being canceled.

"The #Chiefs canceled all team activities today after a backup defensive lineman had a seizure in a special teams meeting and went into cardiac arrest, per sources. The team’s medical staff worked quickly, an ambulance was called and the player is currently in stable condition," Pelissero wrote on his X account.

The Chiefs' Thursday media availability was re-scheduled for Friday (June 7). No additional details on the incident were immediately made available at the time of publication.

The Chiefs are currently in Phase 3 of their voluntary offseason program with mandatory minicamp scheduled to start on June 11. Kansas City is less than four full months removed from winning its second consecutive Super Bowl and third in five years during a 25-22 overtime win against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

The Chiefs' offseason has included several notable headlines including second-year wide receiver Rashee Rice's multiple arrests, kicker Harrison Butker's controversial comments made during a college commencement ceremony, the trade of former starting cornerback L'Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans, the signing of free agent wide receiver Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown, quarterback Patrick Mahomes' reworked contract and tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones' both agreeing to record-setting contract extensions.
