Torey Lovullo to Paul Skenes: "I just wanted to congratulate you. I've chosen you to be the starter for the National League in the 2024 All-Star Game. I'm really, really excited for you. It's an unbelievable honor and so well-deserved... You represent so many great things that this game craves. It's such a great story. The way you've come on the scene, the way you've done it with such humbleness, it's noticeable. I'll be honored to be your manager, and I'm going to be honored to be watching you throw your first pitch, super excited about that."

Pirates All-Star SP Paul Skenes joins The Dan Patrick Show, with a surprise guest appearance from NL All-Star M Torey Lovullo. Lovullo crashes the interview to tell Skenes live on air that he will be starting the All-Star Game on the mound for the National League, becoming the fifth rookie pitcher in history to start the Midsummer Classic. Plus, Skenes explains to Dan why he was not surprised that he was pulled after 7 no-hit innings on Thursday:

Paul Skenes: "I was talking with our pitching coach and our game planning coordinator more than our manager. I was telling them how I was feeling and what I thought about the hitters going into the next inning. I wasn't really expecting to go back out for the 8th in general, so it wasn't at all a surprise when they pulled me."
