Dan acknowledges that Caitlin Clark may not be the best player in the WNBA, but he makes a strong argument for her being the most valuable. The league just signed a huge TV deal, players’ salaries will certainly increase across the board, and it’s all part of the “Caitlin Clark Effect.” Much like Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky and Michael Jordan, she has elevated her sport to levels never before seen.
Dan Patrick: “They just signed this new deal. Great timing! But that’s the ‘Caitlin Clark Effect.’ She had a large say in this TV deal. Now all of a sudden, you know, players might get their salaries doubled...charter planes in the WNBA. But you have to embrace it, and you have acknowledge what she’s done. I mean, she should get MVP votes from this standpoint; is she great? Yes. Is she the most valuable player in the league? And the answer is, yes. FOR the league, she’s the most valuable player.”
