Rob Parker: “I get it, he's an iconic figure, one of the greatest of all time, but Tiger Woods is an embarrassment as we speak. Tiger Woods should retire. He's a guy who shook up the sports world and made people turn on their TV to watch this guy challenge all these records – and now he’s turned into an embarrassment. That's how bad it is. This is not 'Tiger Woods'. I don't want to see Willie Mays fumbling in left field. I don't want Tiger Woods to be this guy. I don't.
WHY?? There's nothing left to prove! He came back, he won that one tournament in 2019 after the wreck, which was tremendous; take your bow! But since then he's failed to finish in the top 20 once in any major. During that span he's missed the cut six out of the last seven majors. He finished in the top 60 just five times. He also had to withdraw early twice -- 2022 PGA and the 2023 Masters.
I mean, this is a debacle, this is ugly. I don't want to see Tiger Woods doing the ‘Rope-a-Dope.’ I don't. I don't want him to be Willie Mays. I don't want him to be like the guys where you stick around and people see you at your worst. That’s where he is now. And I know people are like ‘WELL, HE’S ONLY 48!’... No, it’s not that he’s 48, he’s TERRIBLE. The best shot Tiger has taken since the scandal is when his wife hit him with a 9-iron! His standard is high, we’re not talking about some also-ran. The way he looks now is that 2019 was just an outlier. Golf fans can’t be happy. When you see these heroes that are pillars in sports, you don’t wanna see guys go out like this.”
