Aaron Rodgers' Status For Jets Preseason is Revealed

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not play in the team's first two preseason games and his status for the third hasn't yet been discussed, head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Tuesday (July 30).

"We haven't really talked about it. My instinct right now as I stand here is, uh, we'll see," Saleh said. "My instinct is no, but I want to leave it open. That third game is a one-word sentence. He definitely won't play the first two. But the discussion on the third one, we just haven't quite had yet."

Rodgers participated in training camp this week, despite having previously missed the team's mandatory minicamp last month for what Saleh described as an unexcused absence due to an event "that was very important to him."

Rodgers was acquired by the Jets after last offseason after 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, but limited to just four snaps before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury in his Jets debut last September.

"I feel really good," Rodgers said of his injury status in May via NFL.com. "It's just about the mental part. These practices have been nice the last couple of days. Feel what it's like to be out there, to be moving around, to not be thinking about it and see how I respond the next day. This is the last part.

"The strength is good, the movement is good, just the confidence to do everything."
