The San Francisco 49ers lost another game last night, this time in a low scoring affair vs. their divisional rival Los Angeles Rams, and while they haven’t been officially eliminated from the NFL playoffs, their chances are slim. Add to that the big contracts to aging and often injured veterans as well as a young QB who is going to demand a huge contract himself, and it looks like the window of opportunity for them to win a Super Bowl is over.
Dan Patrick: “This is how the window closes. It’s closing. It might be closed. And now you gotta pay Brock Purdy...They paid top dollar for Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Trent Williams, (Nick) Bosa, (Fred) Warner, and all of a sudden now you’ve got a quarterback who is, I guess rightfully so, going to be asking for at least $50M a year. The window closes.”
