Rob and Kelvin react to recent comments from Lakers head coach JJ Redick on the declining viewership numbers across the NBA this season. Redick claimed that shows like Inside the NBA have gotten far too negative, and have talked down the on-court product far too often in recent years, ultimately hurting viewership. He claimed it's for that reason that fans have gradually stopped watching games.
Rob Parker: "I think JJ Redick is full of poppycock. He's giving [the media way too much credit]. The reason Inside the NBA has done so well for so long is because they're honest. You know what people don't wanna watch? People don't wanna watch the local postgame shows where everything is 'rah rah home team.'... [This dip in NBA viewership] has nothing to do with Charles Barkley, Shaq, Kenny Smith... The reason people aren't watching the NBA is the quality of the game. I respect Barkley and those guys for being honest with the fans... They have not always been bashing the product [like Redick claims]. Have they over the last few years? Yes, they have -- and rightfully so! You ask why the ratings are down? It's because the product stinks!"
