The Demise of the AAF Was Rooted in Gambling

Charlie Ebersol

The demise of the Alliance of American Football continues to uphold that the idea of replicating the NFL is still no easy task. The saddest thing in all this was that the AAF wasn't even given much chance to fail on audience numbers alone. That's not to say that their numbers were great but, the organization seemed to crumble from within despite having every single possible resource to succeed. Even when they hit a massive wall with payroll, they got bailed out by Tom Dundon and still couldn't make ends meet.

Dan Patrick breaks down every possible issue the AAF had and why this attempt at a football league serves as a cautionary tale to anybody else lining up at bat to make this happen.
