Deron Williams has officially been waived by the Dallas Mavericks and is now free to join another team once he clears the waivers. It is being largely reported that LeBron James finally got the playmaker he wanted, as Williams will reach an agreement with the Cavaliers shortly.
Jordan Schultz reported it first, his tweet is above, and since that moment various other NBA experts are starting to validate the claim.
What does this mean exactly? The Cavaliers have been reliant on a "backup PG by association" system, but will now have a veteran leader organizing the second unit. Williams also brings outside shooting and reliable ball handling to a team that needs both in their bench.
Hopefully he can remain healthy and contribute right away. The Cavaliers are the perfect place for a late revival in the career of Deron Williams.
