On Wednesday against the Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin will wear Jordan shoes designed by Justice Griffith, an 11-year-old leukemia patient at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. After the game, the shoes will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to the hospital.
You can bid on the shoes here. You can donate to CHLA here, with the Clippers pledging to match donations up to $25,000.
Really just an awesome gesture by Blake Griffin right here with the move to donate both his time, compassion, and money to the Blake Kicks Cancer movement.
Quick story about Blake Griffin that pertains to this amazing generosity.
Blake has been doing this, touching lives that need inspiration, in the Los Angeles community for a long time. David Stroud was a 19-year-old Valencia High School basketball player in Santa Clarita when he was diagnosed with cancer. Blake took a major role in helping bring David and his friends closer together. Check this out from the article in The Signal:
On Aug. 10, Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin visited Stroud at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and tweeted on his Twitter account: “Just met the most unbelievably cool kid, David Stroud and his friends and family. You’re the man David.”Stroud was able to return home on Wednesday.
Blake might be a lot of things to a lot of people in a basketball sense, but whatever criticisms you have of him need to stay independent of on-court ability.
That doesn't matter at all, really.
