Lakers are trading Tim Mozgov and D'Angelo Russell to Nets for Brook Lopez and 27th pick Thursday, sources say.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojVerticalNBA) June 20, 2017
The Los Angeles Lakers moved D'Angelo Russell to the Nets, and the Nets gave them Brook Lopez in return. Wow.
This means a few things for both franchises. First and foremost the Nets were able to get a young asset in D'Angelo Russell in exchange for Lopez, who is perennially injured and an aging piece. The Lakers were able to relieve some pressure in the backcourt to clear way for Lonzo Ball, and now add Brook Lopez to the mix as well.
The Lakers get an additional late draft pick, got rid of the Mozgov contract, relieved themselves of Russell, and got Brook Lopez. What a deal for the Lakers.
