Jason Smith: “How does this end for Meyers Leonard and the Heat?”
Ric Bucher: “I fear for him… For where the NBA is and the position the NBA has taken as being very advanced when it comes to being socially conscious and socially sensitivel I can’t see how they don’t come down really hard on him in this instance… With the stand the NBA has taken over the last year it needs to be consistent here, and I would expect that if that’s the case, we may not see Meyers play again this season. I don’t see a permanent ban from the league, but I can see something as severe as being suspended for the remainder of the season, or at least some lengthy suspension along with some sort of rehabilitative program when it comes to being more socially aware and sensitive to equality.” (Full Audio Above)
FS1 NBA insider Ric Bucher joined the Jason Smith Show discussing the Meyers Leonard fallout in Miami, and what he thinks the league will do to punish the Heat player for using an anti-Jewish slur during a Twitch Livestream while playing a video game.
Leonard can be heard in a video posted to social media on Tuesday saying “f**king cowards. Don’t f**king snipe me, you f**cking k**e b*tch.”
Check out the audio above as Bucher thinks the league could make an example out of Leonard and really come down hard on him, including handing down a season-long suspension for the extreme lapse in judgment, and the embarrassment it brought a league that claims to pride itself on equality.
