Rams vs. Bengals (SPREAD: LAR -4.5)

“Early in the week I loved the Rams, I still like them and here’s why. The Rams are 7-3 at home this year including the playoffs – it’s not one of the more dominating home field advantages but they’re a veteran team staying at home and that matters. I think the game is decided on the defensive line, the Rams’ is great, and the Bengals weakness is probably their o-line. Teams to allow at least 5+ sacks in the Super Bowl era are 4-15, and 8 of the last 9 Super Bowl winners have registered more sacks than their opponent. My guess is the Rams have more sacks than the Bengals do. It’s just the reality of Aaron Donald, who is a double-teaming menace every snap. Matt Stafford has 13 TDs and zero picks in the fourth quarter all year, if the game is close he has been the best fourth quarter quarterback in the league. He's 8-1 over his last 9 games, he’s super comfortable, and he’s completing 70% of his throws. The Rams defense, it took them awhile but they’re playing really good right now. Opponents are getting first downs on third down 18% of the time. They have not allowed 61 rushing yards or more in any of their playoff games, and I believe Cincinnati at its best runs the football a lot. Super Bowl experience – the Bengals have one player on the roster who has been in a Super Bowl, the Rams have ten, and they’re at home. Let’s be honest, the Bengals trailed Kansas City by 18 points. It’s the greatest comeback in a conference championship game in league history. McVay is very good with the lead at half. I like the Rams to win it 28-23, I think there’s more running in the game than people predict. It’s a very fast game, I don’t think the Bengals want Joe Burrow in the crosshairs of that pass rush 40 times, Cincy is gonna run it, and they’ll have a little bit of success. I think the Rams didn’t run it well against Tampa or the Niners, but you can run with more success against Cincinnati. Lots of running, lower score than many predict, very fast game, mostly efficient, Rams win 28-23.”

Colin's prediction: Rams 28, Bengals 23.
