Colin Cowherd: “If the Celtics lose this series can you take a big swing? Hell, the Warriors did after winning a title, they moved off Harrison Barnes and went and got KD. Jayson Tatum is just not an ‘alpha.’ He’s great, not an alpha. Jaylen Brown has a ‘1’ mentality and a ‘2’ game. Marcus Smart is limited and aging. Robert Williams, cross your fingers on his health. Al Horford is OLD. Move when you’re in strength, not weakness, then you look desperate and have no leverage. I’ve seen this Celtics team for 5-6 years, it’s just variations of ‘good’. In every great team there are defined roles and everybody understands it. I don’t think Tatum and Brown know their roles. Tatum is more talent, Jaylen Brown wants the ball more, I don’t think there’s clarity here and I think you gotta create it. You gotta take a big swing. Even if they won the title would it be because they’re ‘great’? No, it’s because Milwaukee folded, the East is weaker, the Knicks can’t score, neither can Miami, and Golden State is in a transition period. Even if you beat Denver, it’s a weird and wonky year. Take a big swing. It’s starting to remind me of the Oklahoma City team with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. You started added up all those really good years without a title, the stars start getting heat, and there’s a lot more tension behind the scenes that nobody knows about. Brown and Tatum, you are seeing signs of the tension. The Celtics don’t really know who they are right now and I’ve seen this thing for five years with a couple different coaches.” (Full Segment Above)
Watch Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks it’s time the Boston Celtics blow up their roster, even if they managed to come back from a 3-2 deficit vs. Philadelphia, then and go on to win two more series.
