Colin Cowherd: Why the Lakers Won't Win the NBA Finals

Colin Cowherd: “The Lakers are a great do-or-die team. LeBron is 12-0 in his last 12 sudden death games – Game 7’s, play-in games, in-season tournament games... If the Lakers were a band, they could rock you all night long... Once. They are not built for a world tour. There’s no encore here. AD is a very old 31 and you always cross your fingers on his health, and LeBron is just old. They’re great playing with the kids but they need a nap every afternoon.
You need 16 wins to be an NBA champion and it would probably take the Lakers 26-27 total games to get there. With old LeBron and older than his age AD, that’s not going to happen. If you watched that game last night, LeBron and AD looked cooked in the fourth quarter. Zion Williamson, they could not stop that freight train. I don’t think they win if Zion stays and doesn’t limp off the court. He was unstoppable last night.
Championship teams almost always have a vibrant and dynamic star in their 20’s. D-Lo – can't trust him, Reeves – c’mon, Rui – nah... And now they face Denver. Denver is BIG, they’re thick, they’re physical, and the games in Denver will be high altitude. The Lakers match up with Denver physically but to beat them four times? And then to win 16 total games out of about 26 it would take to win a championship? I don’t see it happening.
Everybody loves grandpa playing with the kids, but by about 2:30 he needs a gin and a nap, and I don’t think the Lakers can rack up 16 wins to win an NBA championship.”

Watch Colin Cowherd of FS1’s The Herd explain why the Los Angeles Lakers won’t be winning the NBA Finals this season despite the media's cliche rush of optimism around their title chances coming off their play-in tournament victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Check out the segment above as Colin details why there’s no way this aging Lakers group can win 16 games the next month and a half.
