NBA legend and FS1 analyst Paul Pierce revealed that he was hospitalized and underwent surgery after suffering a gruesome finger injury while eating in a post shared on his Instagram story Friday (May 17) night.

Pierce, 46, initially shared a photo of himself laying in a hospital bed, followed by three close-up shots of his fingers, which were mangled and covered in blood. One of Pierce's fingertips appeared to be facing the wrong way while another finger appeared to have experienced a long deep cut.

Pierce didn't reveal additional details on what happened or the extent of his injuries, but said he underwent surgery.

"I’m Good surgery went well looks worse then felt I appreciate the concern and love and to my haters I love yall too," Pierce wrote on his X account.

Pierce previously contributed to ESPN's NBA coverage following his retirement in 2017 before being fired by the company in April 2021 after sharing a controversial Instagram Live video and began contributing to FS1's sports talk show Undisputed as of March 2024.
