Ric Bucher: “What I’m hearing is that Kevin Durant will be walking through one door in New York and it’s going to come down to a battle between those two teams. He’s not happy with the way it went down with Golden State so it’s a matter of the Knicks or Nets at this stage. The Warriors medical staff told KD what they told Steve Kerr; that he couldn’t get hurt worse than he had been. They either misdiagnosed his injury, screwed it up, or didn’t give him a clear view of the potential risk. They got it wrong and Durant is paying the price. From everything I’m hearing, Kevin Durant is not happy by that fact.”
Listen to NBA insider Ric Bucher join Jason Smith and Mike Harmon on The Jason Smith Show to talk about the ongoing develops with Kevin Durant's free agency, as the formerly tabbed 'Best Player in the World' is now one of the most coveted free agents in sports history.
Durant's catastrophic Achilles injury was arguably the NBA's worst tragedy of the decade, but most around the sport still believe the two-time Finals MVP is guaranteed a max deal for a seven-footer equipped with one of the greatest jump shots in league history who doesn't necessarily rely on explosive moments.
Regardless of how Durant's injury rehabilitation will play out, Bucher says KD is not happy about how his injury was handled by the Warriors medical staff and believes it will be the deathblow to any possibility of him staying on Golden State.
Check out the interview below as Bucher says the Knicks and Nets are now the big favorites to land Durant.
