Everything Kaepernick threw was a 100mph fastball. Lamar has touch, he’s a team guy, he’s coachable, he’s getting better, and he’s not about himself. People keep saying ‘Will this running quarterback thing last?’ Russell Wilson lasted and he never gets hit, and nobody is getting hits on Kyler Murray. Will he last in this league? At one point Kaepernick was the league’s best dual-threat quarterback and a guy who led the 49ers to three consecutive NFC Championships, including a Super Bowl appearance in 2013.
Much like Jackson’s otherworldly stats, Kaepernick was putting up never before seen stats as the supposed next great NFL phenom during his day. In the greatest game of Kap’s career, and one of the greatest playoff performances of all time, he had a 263-yard passing yard/181 rushing yard game versus the Packers in the 2013 NFC Division Round that saw Kaepernick account for 4 TD’s and post an incredible 96.5 QBR while taking down Aaron Rodgers. Three years later and Kap was out of football.
Lamar Jackson’s biggest doubters like to bring up Kaepernick and discuss how dual-threat legends like Kap, Tim Tebow, Robert Griffin III, and Vince Young were also at one point the most celebrated players in their sport at one point, before finally being exposed as marginal passers who would then disappear from the limelight.
