Listen to Colin Cowherd rate the list of coaching candidates that will most likely be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys at the beginning of the 2020 season.
Incumbent coach Jason Garrett is perhaps the league’s most derided coach, as he’s remained one of the NFL’s most tenured coaches for nearly a decade despite his billing as coming up the smallest on the biggest stages.
Despite sport-wide disbelief on how Garrett has been able to keep his job so long, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones just can’t seem to quit on the failing former Cowboys backup quarterback.
Even though Garrett has overseen championship caliber Cowboys teams that on paper appeared like daunting Super Bowl contenders, Garrett has never led Dallas out of the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoff bracket in a conference championship drought that has extended all the way to 1995.
Colin believes there are eight possible individuals for the job, with one of those including Garrett himself, who has been rumored to only being able to save his job if he reaches the NFC Championship game at the very least.
The other seven on Colin’s list includes Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley, Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh, Alabama’s Nick Saban, Baylor’s Matt Rhule, former Ohio State and Florida head coach Urban Meyer, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, and former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera.
