Doug Gottlieb: “Joel Embiid might be the most TALENTED guy in the league... He’s 7’1”, he can shoot, he can handle it, he can move laterally, he can actually score from the post unlike most of these dudes, and he has basketball skills that go along with incredible athletic ability. I love Giannis’ game but he doesn’t actually have a ton of ‘game’. He’s got that great Euro step, he goes left and then spins back to the right, but he’s not a natural shooter. Embiid has a much better looking jump shot and has a legit post game. Giannis can cover more positions defensively, but Embiid is a tremendous rim protector when he wants to be. As for Anthony Davis, he’s not a true post scorer… He’s had a better year, but AD has LeBron James, whose sole purpose in life is seemingly to make Davis into an alpha and a superstar. Embiid has the talent to do anything he wants to do.” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)
Listen to Doug Gottlieb join The Dan Patrick Show and explain to Jason McIntyre and Ryan Hollins (filling in for Dan Patrick) why he thinks Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is the NBA’s most talented player.
Although players like Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo might be considered better ‘players’ than Embiid right now, who is averaging 23.3 points and 12.6 rebounds, Gottlieb makes a case for Embiid possessing a wider range of ‘talents’ than those aforementioned players.
Check out the audio below as Gottlieb details why he’s ranking Embiid ahead of Giannis and AD on the talent meter.
