Colin Cowherd: Redskins Need to Dump Dwayne Haskins, Draft Tua Tagovailoa

Colin Cowherd: “Mel Kiper said something yesterday that was obvious... He said if Washington can pick Tua number two, then of course you take him. He’s better than Dwayne Haskins, nobody has any questions about that, and Mel Kiper is right. Tua IS better than Dwayne Haskins at everything except size. He’s more accurate, he’s more mature, he’s got more productivity, he’s got more starts, he’s a better leader, and he’s more mobile. I don’t think Haskins is mobile at all, and the minute he moves his feet he becomes a below-average thrower. He needs a total clean and static pocket. Tua can always play with an authoritarian defensive-minded coach. He had Nick Saban, and Ron Rivera is at Washington. So he can handle a coach who has got a little military feel to him. Tua ate up the SEC defenses; Haskins ate up the Big 10 defenses – you tell me what is better. Haskins in 7 starts last year went 2-5, had 7 touchdowns, 7 picks, and a selfie, which was the biggest headline. And in his two WINS he completed 48% of his passes with no touchdowns and a pick, and beat Detroit without Matt Stafford and Carolina without Cam. I’m also hearing a lot of stuff about his work ethic being hit or miss, and his maturity is a concern. That is NOT a concern with Tua. Folks, we’ve seen enough. You can watch American Idol for 30 seconds and know they’re not great… Haskins is not going to change the future of Washington, but TUA could.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why the Washington Redskins should draft Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the number two pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and give up on last season’s first round pick Dwayne Haskins after only one year.

Haskins finished his rookie campaign with the worst QBR in the NFL and threw for just 7 touchdowns in 9 games, compared to 7 interceptions and 3 lost fumbles. Colin says the Redskins need to admit that they whiffed on Haskins and dump the former Buckeye the same way the Cardinals dumped former first round quarterback Josh Rosen after only one year to draft Kyler Murray.

Colin says Tua is clearly better than Haskins, and reiterated the fact that no one in Arizona regrets taking quarterbacks in back to back drafts considering Murray won the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year last year, while the now-anonymous Rosen is an NFL exile.

Check out the video above as Colin details why the Redskins need to draft Tua at two and change the miserable fortunes of their franchise.
