Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots will be the two teams trying the hardest to acquire elite collegiate specimen Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson.
Colin has been on the Lawrence bandwagon every since his freshman season, and believes the former National Champion is the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck, and one of the most special collegiate quarterbacks in NFL history.
Lawrence still has one more year of eligibility left for a Clemson team he’s lost only one game with, and will certainly be the first quarterback taken off the board in 2021.
Colin believes Jacksonville and New England are the obvious suitors considering they have done absolutely nothing to acquire a quarterback this offseason, and unlike teams like the Panthers, Chargers, and Colts, aren’t in a position to draft a quarterback in the top 15-20 picks to draft a player like Jordan Love or Justin Herbert.
Jacksonville will already be in the running for a lottery pick next year considering they have one of the worst rosters in the NFL, but Colin believes New England will be in the 6-10 range next season, and will start building up their draft capital this year to create a package spicy enough to trade up for Lawrence next season prior to the 2021 NFL Draft.
