2020 NFL Team Previews According to Vegas Sharps: Miami Dolphins

Listen to NFL Vegas sharps RJ Bell and Steve Fezzik join Jonas Knox on ‘Straight Out of Vegas’ to preview the 27th ranked team on their 2020 win/total predictions, the Miami Dolphins.

After a surprisingly solid 2019 season that saw the Dolphins somehow rebound from an 0-7 start to miraculously post a 5-11 record, the dormant franchise who hasn’t won a playoff game in 20 years will look to Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as their potential savior.

The Dolphins were looking poised to go 0-16 before Ryan Fitzpatrick and DeVante Parker came alive in the second half of the season to win five of their last nine games, including their Week 17 victory in New England that cost the Patriots a first round bye in the playoffs, and essentially ended any chance they had at a Super Bowl run.

Even though the five victories knocked the Dolphins draft selection back to slot number five, the Redskins, Lions, and Giants all shockingly either didn’t take Tagovailoa, or couldn’t field a worthy enough trade offer for him, as most draft pundits didn’t foresee the Dolphins getting Tua if they had to wait until #5.

Not only did the Dolphins draft their franchise quarterback – a player looking to rewrite a dark and sometimes comical history of quarterbacks since Dan Marino, but they team also locked up a star lineman to protect him as well, with USC’s Austin Jackson – a first round pick Miami acquired from an in-season trade with Pittsburgh that made Minkah Fitzpatrick a Steeler.

Second-year head coach Brian Flores, who some said deserved some ‘Coach of the Year’ recognition for simply winning five games with the arguably the league’s roster, will head into year 2 with a re-loaded Dolphins team who acquired notable veterans Byron Jones, Jordan Howard, Kyle Van Noy, Shaq Lawson, Ereck Flowers, and Emmanuel Ogbah in free agency.

The Dolphins OVER/UNDER for wins is 6, their odds to win the Super Bowl are 70-1, 8-1 to win the AFC East, and 8/3 to make the playoffs.
