Colin Cowherd: “I was thinking that Tua was going to be a nice pro, but as I’m watching all these young quarterbacks I see two things: they are BIG men or wildly athletic, and so I had an epiphany. I said ‘Tua is not going to work.’ He will win games, I mean Mitch Trubisky wins games, but he’s not going to be what we think he is, or what I thought he was. So yesterday he debuts and THAT was my epiphany. He looks small. He doesn’t have a dynamic arm, the coaching staff protected him, they had 8 first downs, 90 net passing yards, he was bad on third down, and they almost never maintained drives. I’m not making a judgement just off one game, but when I see stuff, I’m going to say stuff. I don’t feel like coaches are ‘protecting’ Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray, and Justin Herbert, but I kind of feel like yesterday they just protected Tua.Tua is going to win games, that is not the point here. This is a really good coaching staff, and I predicted Miami would beat the Rams coming off a bye… I see ‘small’ and I don’t see dynamic… Boy, you’re asking a lot for a college kid to come into the NFL and say ‘alright, you’re small, and not very mobile. You gotta be DREW BREES to win.’ That’s like throwing a quarter on the ground and asking an airplane to land on it. Why did Miami sit red hot Ryan Fitzpatrick? Because Miami has Houston’s first round pick, it’s going to be a top 5 pick, and they’re going to move on after 8 games if Tua doesn’t have ‘IT.’” (Full Video Above)
Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks Tua Tagovailoa will get ‘Josh Rosen’ed’ if he doesn’t produce for the Dolphins the next 9 games, as Colin believes the only reason Miami benched a red hot Ryan Fitzpatrick was to make sure they didn’t need to draft a first round quarterback in 2021.
Tua won his debut over the Rams, but posted just a 25.0 QBR score, going 12/22 for 93 yards, with one touchdown and one loss fumble. Miami owns the rights to the Houston Texans first round Draft pick from last season’s Laremy Tunsil trade. The Texans are currently 1-6, and with the trade Miami would be picking fourth if the Draft were today, to go with their other first round selection.
Check out the video above as Colin firmly believes that the Dolphins would show no hesitation to move on from Tua after just one season if he fails to produce, as Colin is already on record predicting that Tua will be a bust.
