Health officials in Los Angeles County announced that nine members of the Dodgers organization tested positive for COVID-19 in the days following the team's World Series victory. One family member also tested positive.
The identities of those who tested positive were not released. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Major League Baseball have not commented on the positive tests.
The news comes less than two weeks after the Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays to win the World Series. Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner learned he tested positive during the eighth inning of the game and was immediately removed and sent to an isolation room.
About an hour after the Dodgers won the game, Turner broke quarantine and joined his teammates to celebrate. He was not wearing a mask while posing for a team photograph with the World Series trophy but did wear one while he was holding the trophy and high-fiving and hugging his teammates.
MLB investigated Turner's actions and decided not to punish him for violating the league's coronavirus protocols.
According to USA Today, at least five of the cases were with individuals who were not part of the playoff bubble in Arlington, Texas.
