Colin Cowherd on the 11-1 Steelers: 'They're Not a Great Football Team'

Colin Cowherd: “The Steelers have been such a great business, but even great businesses like Sears and JC Penney; they erode over time... They’re now forcing Big Ben to have to throw over 50 times – not good. The injuries are piling up – not good. They don’t even attempt to run the football – not good. And they struggle to put away average teams – not good… I’m watching the Steelers and do you know who they are? They’re the Patriots from last year. The Patriots got off to this 8-0 start and we were all like ‘WOW’, and then all of the sudden the games got closer, they were asking more of Brady, and the results weren’t good. The last three games Big Ben has had a passer rating in the 80’s. They’re the Patriots and I can’t unsee it. They got off to a fast start, then start losing all these close games, and then they get one-and-done'd in the playoffs by Tennessee. We paid them so much respect because of the ‘BRAND’, the name, Big Ben, and the coach, but they’re just not dynamic. Look at them, they can’t run. They don’t wanna make Big Ben throw 45-55 times, but that’s what they have to do… They’re not a great football team. They’re a ‘good’ football team. One week from now they face Buffalo and they’re going to lose, and when they lose they’ll no longer be the top seed. Similarly last year New England lost that last game to Miami and they lost the bye… We gave the Patriots so much credit for going 8-0, and then we looked back and went ‘what were the impressive wins?’ You look back at the Steelers wins and see it was a bunch of wins over the Jags, Cowboys, and Bengals.”

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he has the 11-1 Steelers ranked as the 8th best team on his Week 13 ‘Herd Hierarchy’ rankings, and why they remind him of the 2019 New England Patriots who got off to an 8-0 start, but who ultimately went 4-4 down the stretch and were eliminated in the first round.

Check out the video above as Colin details why he doesn’t think the Steelers are a ‘great’ or ‘dynamic’ football team.
