'This is an Awful Look For Brian Flores': Doug Gottlieb on Lawsuit vs. NFL

Doug Gottlieb: “Brian Flores is never going to be a head coach ever again. The slash and burn is unbelievable. I thought he was a pretty good coach, clearly he didn’t get along with Chris Grier [Dolphins GM] – just so we’re aware, Chris Grier is Black. His owner was not, but the owner chose the general manager who he had worked with longer than the head coach. By all accounts, there were enough people in that organization that had a similar feeling in terms of their dealings with Brian Flores. But the ‘BURN IT DOWN’? First, it makes no sense, and there's a text where Bill Belichick mistakenly texted him instead of texting Brian Daboll, saying ‘I was only brought in for the Rooney Rule.’ Let’s keep in mind that Brian Flores already interviewed for the Jaguars job, as well as the Houston Texans job. This is amazing… He said Stephen Ross, the owner of the Dolphins offered to pay him $100,000 a loss in order to tank his first year. We ALL thought they were tanking, which they were ‘tanking for Tua.’ That is damning, but unless he has proof of that it’s hearsay...But everybody knew they were tanking. Does any of this prove racism is a part of hiring practices? It will probably make sure that Jacksonville and Houston hire Black coaches, but I would guess for Brian Flores, at least in the short term, no one is hiring him. Sue the NFL, good luck to you. Had a job for three years, interviewed for several jobs, finalist for a couple jobs, and this is what you do as a knee-jerk reaction because you’re mad? Of course Brian Daboll is the guy, they hired the assistant GM, guys bring with them people they worked with previously. It all makes sense. Flores was someone the owner John Mara wanted to take a look at. Just because you have somebody you want to hire, doesn’t mean you don't at least want to talk to Brian Flores and get his perspective on things. I understand that when you look at the numbers of people who were getting jobs in this most recent cycle, it hasn’t been nearly as good as it should be, but we should also point out that two Black GM’s have just been hired, and those numbers continue to grow… Just saying it’s ‘racist’ when there’s no…what is he talking about? The tanking one is probably the most damning thing. The texts from Bill Belichick, what did you expect to happen? When they hired the GM from Buffalo, Brian Daboll is the quarterback whisperer, and Josh Allen looks completely different the last two years, of course, he’s going to get a job, why shouldn’t he get a job?... This is an awful look for Brian Flores.” (Full Audio Above)

Listen to Doug Gottlieb explain why he thinks Brian Flores’ lawsuit against the NFL for racist hiring practices could greatly damage his chances at landing another head coaching job in the future.

Flores filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against the NFL and three other teams (Giants, Broncos, Dolphins), accusing them of racial bias. Flores was fired by the Dolphins last month and lost out to Brian Daboll and Nathanial Hackett, two White men, in the last week for the Giants and Broncos coaching positions.

Gottlieb believes Flores may end torpedoing his standing as a coaching candidate, as attempts to sue the league for racism could turn him into a martyr and halt the momentum he had as a young 40-year-old coach with a very good resume.

Check out the segment above as Gottlieb fears Flores may never be an NFL head coach ever again because of the level of toxicity that now follows his name.
