Former Villanova Men’s Head Basketball Coach, Jay Wright joins Doug Gottlieb on The Doug Gottlieb Show. He says he had be considering stepping down since the beginning of the season and, by the end, it just felt like the right time. Part of his decision was his confidence in the direction of the program and the strong likelihood of continued success with Kyle Neptune taking over. He says telling his team he was leaving was brutally emotional, and he shares some of his favorite highlights from his time at the helm. And he makes it clear he won’t be considering a position in the NBA until he’s had a chance to complete the transfer of power at Villanova and spend some time to clear his head.
Jay Wright: “I want to finish this transition here, this is really important to me...and then I want to just get Kyle (Neptune) and this staff going. Once I do that I want to take a few months and approach life not as a coach...”
