Colin Cowherd: The Seven Most Likely NFL Teams to Turn Their Seasons Around

Watch Colin Cowherd of FS1’s The Herd list the seven NFL teams he believes are going to make the biggest turnarounds this season after lousy campaigns last year, as Colin believes these seven teams will all make the playoffs in 2024.

1. Cincinnati Bengals

“This is the easiest one. They missed the playoffs by one game without Joe Burrow. That’s gonna be a different team. With Jake Browning in arguably the best division in the league, they missed the playoffs by one game. Cincinnati will be a playoff team if Joe Burrow is healthy.”

2. Los Angeles Chargers

“They had the biggest coaching upgrade from Brandon Staley to Jim Harbaugh. They had actually made the playoffs with Brandon Staley, but last year everything circled the drain and they became a really bad football team by Thanksgiving. Harbaugh is not only a great coach but he’s a quick turnaround artist. His team doesn’t have Super Bowl perimeter weapons, but everywhere else they’re very good.”

3. New York Jets

“If Aaron Rodgers is just healthy when that defense, they should win a bunch of games – 8, 9, 10. I don’t buy the 11, 12, or 13. He will be 40 off an Achilles surgery, they really have one big-time back, and one receiver who is a star who doesn’t have a history of injuries. But if people are healthy, including Aaron Rodgers, they’re going to be in virtually every game. Just think about how bad they were offensively last year.”

4. Atlanta Falcons

“The biggest quarterback upgrade is the Atlanta Falcons. Desmond Ridder to Kirk Cousins? This is a really good offense with an excellent o-line. Only Detroit’s o-line is unquestionably better. Outside of that, Atlanta is in the top 4 or 5. This is a really weak division and feels like it is most years, and if Kirk Cousins can’t play early, they drafted Michael Penix. The knock on Atlanta is they don’t have a consistent pass rush, and they have too many good quarterbacks.”

5 Chicago Bears

“Chicago felt like a bad team last year but they won seven games. They can’t win nine with a transformative college quarterback? They’ve upgraded the offensive line and they’ve actually drafted pretty good. If you go look at Matt Eberflus’ defense Week 10 and on last year after they got Montez Sweat it was really good.”

6. Indianapolis Colts

“I think you have to keep your eye on Indianapolis. We loved what we saw with the quarterback Anthony Richardson and we love Shane Steichen. They went 9-8 with Gardner Minshew. Anthony Richardson is jump off the television explosive.”

7. Jacksonville Jaguars

“They went 9-8 last year and how many injuries did Trevor Lawrence suffer during the season? Christian Kirk, their number two receiver, was out for much of the season. They drafted Brian Thomas out of LSU. Kirk is back, Trevor is healthy, Brian Thomas, offensive head coach, weird division, we don’t know if Tennessee is any good.”
