New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers shared a photo of himself shaking hands with former President Donald Trump after being accused of snubbing him during the UFC 302 pay-per-view event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, Saturday (June 1) night.
"(Handshake emoji) pic with President Trump," Rodgers wrote in a photo showing the two on his Instagram story, which he called, "Priceless."
Rodgers' post came hours after he was shown sitting down while Trump walked by and shook hands with others around him as he entered the Prudential Center in a video shared by MeidasTouch.com Editor-in-Chief Ron Filipkowski on his X account Saturday night.
Trump was shown multiple times throughout the live UFC 302 broadcast, which included winning fighters Kevin Holland and Sean Strickland, a longtime outspoken supporter of the former president, both going over to his seat after their respective victories.
“President Trump, you’re the man, bro. “It is a damn travesty what they are doing to you," Strickland said during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, referencing Trump's hush money trial conviction. "I’ll be donating to you, my man.”
Trump also received support from many of the spectators in the arena, which Rogan, who served as the event's color commentator, referred to as a "pretty staggering."
Rodgers recently confirmed that he was strongly considered to be a running mate for independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., but instead opted to continue his NFL career for a 20th season.
"There were really two options: Retire and be his VP or keep playing," Rodgers said during the Jets' OTAs on Tuesday (May 21) via NFL.com. "I wanted to keep playing."
Rodgers then added that his focus was on football when asked about potential distractions, having made multiple podcast appearances during the offseason.
"I respect those opinions, but those are offseason things," Rodgers said. "And those are real opportunities. Mostly podcasts was friends of mine, and the Bobby thing was a real thing. How it got out there, I don't know -- it wasn't from me. Once the season starts, it's all about football."
Rodgers was acquired by the Jets after last offseason after 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, but limited to just four snaps before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury in his Jets debut last September.
